The Posse Foundation has awarded POLAHS senior Jordan Bonner a full-tuition scholarship to Bucknell University in Pennsylvania. Jordan is our THIRD Posse Scholar!
Founded in 1989, Posse identifies public high school students with extraordinary academic and leadership potential who may be overlooked by traditional college selection processes. Posse extends to these students the opportunity to pursue personal and academic excellence by placing them in supportive, multicultural teams—Posses—of 10 students. Posse partner colleges and universities award Posse Scholars four-year leadership scholarships.
Jordan has certainly achieved success in both academics and leadership at POLAHS. He completed nine Advanced Placement and Honors courses; maintained the Principal’s Honor Roll; played Varsity Basketball for four years; received the Future Leader of San Pedro Award; and currently holds office as the ASB senior class President. Jordan plans on majoring in business or engineering at Bucknell, and says that Ms. Albitz’s Calculus course inspired him to work hard in math and pursue a degree in the field.
Remarkably, Jordan’s older brother Joshua (POLAHS ’12) received the Posse scholarship last year. They will attend colleges about one hour away from one another. Were his parents excited? “My mom started running around the house when she found out that I received the scholarship too. My brother called to congratulate me and is happy that we’ll be close,” Jordan says. What a GREAT gift for the New Year!
